Classification Title: Materials Handler I FLSA: Non-Exempt FTE: 1.00 Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a warehouse setting utilizing hand truck, pallet jack, maintaining inventory counts Position Summary: Performs manual and clerical duties related to receiving, inspecting, and stocking: Receives shipments and checks for accuracy against purchase orders; Stocks inventory shelves by the appropriate hospital inventory numbers; Pulls inventory for various departments within the teaching hospital; Assist in the ordering, receiving, distributing and taking inventory of compressed gases for the hospital. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies: Basic computer and arithmetic skills. Skills in operating automotive, materials handling, and office equipment. Detail-oriented, observant, and safety conscious. Physical Demands: Lift, and carry up to 75 pounds. Sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the day on hard floor surfaces. Manual dexterity sufficient to accurately work with small, delicate pieces of equipment or large heavy objects/containers/machinery. Work for long periods of time with arms extended. Driving to perform job related duties. Sorts all incoming mail for the Vet Med Center, which includes all departments, housed on this campus.
