Contract | Night Shift | Onsite | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 24-bed CVICU/CTICU setting with a high volume of 1:1 patient assignments and very high acuity cases including cardiac surgery recovery, lung transplant, thoracic surgery, ECMO, TAVR, IABP, CRRT, esophagectomy, lobectomy, and pneumonectomy
• Perform and assist with high-frequency bedside procedures including bronchoscopies, Swan-Ganz catheter insertions, and epidurals
• Maintain proficiency in central line dressing changes and Foley catheter insertion using strict sterile field technique, as assessed during Day 1 SIMs Lab orientation
• Demonstrate strong IV skills independently, as no dedicated IV team is available on the unit
• Float to other ICU units and telemetry units (patient ratio of 4:1 on telemetry) as needed, including an alternate campus when requested; travelers float before permanent staff
• Adhere to weekend scheduling requirements (3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule) and participate in holiday rotation

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license with current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Level I Trauma experience required
• ICU-only background required; CVICU experience strongly preferred
• Must successfully pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (two attempts permitted)
• Must pass Day 1 SIMs Lab skills assessment covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes with demonstrated sterile field competency
• Must have reliable personal vehicle for travel between campuses

Preferred Experience / Skills

• CCRN certification preferred
• Experience with IABP and CABG patients; candidates with this background may take applicable patient assignments upon arrival
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry monitoring systems
