eBay Live Auction Moderator

Basic Function:

The eBay Live Moderator is responsible for monitoring and managing customer interactions, chat activity, auction information, and other live-stream functions during eBay Live events. This position works closely with the Live Host to maintain an organized, professional, and engaging live auction while helping answer customer questions, identify issues, and support a positive customer experience.

The ideal candidate is comfortable communicating with customers in real time, monitoring multiple activities simultaneously, thinking quickly, and working in a fast-paced e-commerce environment. This position requires flexibility and availability during evenings and weekends, when live auctions are frequently scheduled.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Monitor eBay Live chat, customer comments, questions, and interactions throughout auctions.
• Answer customer questions accurately and professionally when appropriate.
• Communicate important customer questions, requests, and issues to the Live Host in real time.
• Monitor auction activity, bids, sales, and customer interactions.
• Help ensure auction activity follows company procedures and eBay requirements.
• Identify and report inappropriate, disruptive, or potentially fraudulent customer activity according to company procedures.
• Help maintain an organized and positive live-stream environment.
• Assist the Live Host with product information, pricing, inventory status, and other information during auctions.
• Monitor sold items and help maintain accurate records of auction results.
• Assist with identifying products, tracking inventory, and organizing merchandise before and after live events.
• Help resolve routine customer concerns and elevate issues when necessary.
• Assist with post-auction processing, including packaging, labeling, and shipment preparation when required.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate relevant auction information to the appropriate team members.
• Provide excellent customer service and promptly address customer concerns.
• Follow all company policies, eBay requirements, and applicable procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional workspace.
• Assist with other E-Commerce and warehouse duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of High School Diploma/GED required. Vocational or Some College preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of customer service, e-commerce, retail, sales, social media, or related experience preferred.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience with eBay, online selling, livestreaming, social media, retail sales, or customer service preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to communicate quickly, clearly, and professionally during a live event.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to monitor multiple activities simultaneously.
• Able to remain calm and professional when handling difficult customers or fast-moving situations.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn e-commerce platforms and software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to learn and follow eBay Live procedures and company policies.
• Must be dependable and willing to work evenings, weekends, and 40+ hours per week.

• Must be able to pass a background screening and drug testing.
• Professional appearance.
• Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods while working live auctions.
• Ability to regularly lift, move, and handle merchandise.
• Ability to lift up to approximately 50 pounds as required.
• Ability to perform repetitive movements such as packing, sorting, labeling, and handling merchandise.
• Ability to work in a warehouse/e-commerce environment as needed.
• Maintain a professional and positive presence during live auctions.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Meet established sales and performance goals.
• Maintain accurate inventory and auction records.
• Consistently follow company policies and eBay requirements.
• Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and flexibility with scheduling.
