Job Description
We are seeking a skilled, reliable, and highly motivated Heavy Equipment Operator with a strong background in both residential and commercial earthwork. The ideal candidate has a sharp eye for detail, can read stakes and plans accurately, and possesses the experience needed to hit precision grades efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Precision Operation: Efficiently operate loaders, excavators, and skid steers. Excavate and grade basement and crawlspace foundations to within one-tenth of a foot in a loader.
- Foundation backfilling/rough grading : Perform proper backfilling techniques to prevent settling, handle shovel work when necessary, and ensure streets are kept clean and swept.
- Plan Layout: Independently read construction plans and survey stakes to execute the job correctly.
- Safety & Care: Maintain high situational awareness to avoid damages or safety hazards. Responsible for carrying and protecting sensitive equipment like laser levels.
- Teamwork & Efficiency: Complete jobs within designated timeframes while communicating effectively with supervisors and working well with the crew.
Job Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in residential excavating (knowledge of/willingness to do commercial excavating is required).
- Reliability: Must have your own dependable means of transportation and a proven track record of showing up on time every day.
- Skills: Strong communication skills and a team-player attitude.
