Swim Coach

The Swim Coach helps swimmers develop the technique, endurance, confidence, and competitive skills needed to progress toward swim team participation and competitive swimming. This position focuses on advanced stroke development, starts, turns, finishes, conditioning, and race preparation while creating a positive and encouraging environment for swimmers.

Swim Coaches work with individuals and groups of swimmers to identify areas for improvement, provide technical feedback, and develop practices that challenge swimmers appropriately based on their ability and goals. The Swim Coach also helps athletes build the teamwork, discipline, confidence, and sportsmanship necessary to succeed as part of a swim team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Coach proper technique in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.
• Teach starts, turns, finishes, streamlines, and other competitive swimming skills.
• Lead practices focused on stroke development, endurance, speed, and race preparation.
• Evaluate swimmer abilities and provide clear, constructive feedback.
• Prepare swimmers for recreational, school, club, or competitive swim programs.
• Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, confidence, and positive practice habits.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and encouraging practice environment.
• Communicate appropriately with swimmers and families regarding progress.
• Follow Diventures safety, training, and program standards.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of competitive swimming strokes and technique.
• Competitive swimming, coaching, or swim instruction experience preferred.
• Strong communication, leadership, and motivational skills.
• Ability to work with swimmers of varying ages and skill levels.
• Must meet required Diventures aquatic safety and certification requirements.

A successful Swim Coach creates an environment where swimmers are challenged, supported, and excited to improve. Swimmers should leave the program with stronger stroke mechanics, increased endurance and confidence, an understanding of competitive swimming fundamentals, and greater readiness to participate successfully on a swim team.
