Position: Workers' Compensation Claims Specialist

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate Workers' Compensation Medical Only claims ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with legal requirements
• Collaborate with claimants, physicians, and attorneys to devise effective case strategies for efficient claims management
• Interface with medical providers to secure necessary information and authorize treatment within established protocols
• Implement strategic follow-up procedures to efficiently close cases and minimize hospital exposure
• Identify potential third-party recoveries and take appropriate action to initiate them
• Monitor claims activity, manage financial reserves, and adjust exposure changes over the claim lifecycle
• Foster communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding claim and account matters
• Support Compensation and Benefits Department by providing services, information, and communication to employees and management
• Stay updated on Workers' Compensation trends and legislation affecting the program

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• 1-3 years of experience in Workers' Compensation with knowledge of Connecticut laws
• Current Connecticut Licensed Workers Compensation Claims Adjustor
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, with strong typing and data entry skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a grasp of medical terminology
• Strong critical thinking, analytical, and decision-making skills with acute attention to detail
