Early Literacy Coordinator

JOB TITLE : Early Literacy Coordinator (ELC) DEPARTMENT : Community Investment and Impact LOCATION : United Way of Greater Greensboro REPORTS TO : Senior Director, Strategic Partnerships FLSA STATUS : Non-Exempt Part-Time -25 hours per week RATE OF PAY: $22.00 per hour POSITION SUMMARY : Responsible for designing, planning, coordinating, implementing, monitoring and evaluating services of the Raising A Reader (RAR) project. The ELC distributes materials, conducts annual training, collects and monitors evaluation data, and provides ongoing support to RAR partner site staff to ensure administration of the program in adherence to RAR National Standards. The position is grant-funded on an annual basis. May supervise interns and volunteers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Recruit and oversee RAR Partners. Develop and implement project timeline. Coordinate partner sites’ implementation of RAR, including site staff orientation and ongoing training and assistance. Coordinate family engagement activities and development of home libraries. Administer family surveys; compile information and data for funders and RAR National reporting. Manage the inventory system of RAR materials, ensuring accurate tracking, quality control, timely maintenance, and efficient ordering of supplies. Promote project participation in the community and establish connections with local libraries. Work cross-functionally with United Way Community Impact, Marketing, and Resource Development departments as needed. OTHER DUTIES Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Excellent public service orientation to work with diverse populations. Excellent attention to detail. Strong organizational skills to set priorities, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet critical deadlines. Knowledge of child development and/or early literacy principles. Technical skills in Microsoft Office products. Ability to speak Spanish is desirable. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products. Must demonstrate professional maturity and personal accountability. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills and ability to present effectively to a wide range of stakeholders. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Associate or bachelor’s degree in related human service field and 3-5 years human service employment preferred Minimum 3-5 years early care and education/child development experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience Direct experience working with volunteers and community stakeholders.
