Registered Nurse (Outpatient - Access Clinic)

Behavioral Human Services

Hourly Pay Range : $33.92 - $50.88

Job Summary: This Registered Nurse Clinician role is part of a multi-disciplinary outpatient Access Clinic team and is responsible for completing psychiatric, psychosocial, and medical assessments. The primary objective is to provide crisis stabilization services for individuals presenting to the Access Clinic and to ensure they are connected to appropriate resources, including hospitalization when necessary.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Conduct psycho-social and health assessments of adults (18 years and older) with significant mental health and co-occurring needs based upon knowledge of the normal bio-psycho-social development of adulthood.
• intervene in (by way of de-escalation, stabilization, and resolution of presenting crisis) and support individuals who seek services at the Access Clinic for varying behavioral health needs. Administration of long-acting injectables for clinic clients.
• Effectively reduce danger to self or others with therapeutic interventions, arranging for immediate services, and connecting to services/supports in the community until the imminent danger is eliminated and the person is engaged in therapeutic services.
• Implement the plan of care by utilizing psychotherapeutic interventions related to crisis assessment as well as the development of a crisis plan. Provide assurance through follow-up contacts that intervention plans developed during the crisis are being carried out.
• Consults & collaborates w/ CARS, Wraparound Milwaukee, local hospitals, law enforcement, Crisis programs, and other mental health professionals. Provides community engagement and education regarding crisis management and (mental) health services.
• Participate in community engagement and outreach. Provides basic life support and medical interventions as needed. Supports RNs in other internal BHS Crisis Programs (MMC) Milwaukee Mobile Crisis.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

• Valid United States Driver’s License and full access to a reliable, insured vehicle, both able to be maintained throughout employment.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution
• Possession of valid Wisconsin Registered Nurse licensure without restriction at the time of application, able to be maintained throughout employment.
• At least three (3) years of experience in crisis intervention.
• Willing to drive ~50% of the time in this role.
• Willing to be part of a rotation for after-hours and weekend on-call services.

NOTE: This original application is open to permanent residents of the United States. Appointee must establish residency in the state of Wisconsin within six months of start date and maintain such residency during incumbency. In accordance with Section 11, Rule 3 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of criteria deemed appropriate by the Director of Human Resources.
