Entity: Owensboro Health Regional Hospital | Department: Cardiology Owensboro | Work Hours: 40 hours weekly | Weekend Requirements: N/A | 1.0 FTEJob Summary:Coordinates the scheduling of surgeries and related procedures.Job Responsibilities:Schedules appointment times using computerized scheduling programs.May communicate with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure availability of facilities and staff.Communicates with patients and/or their families to provide necessary pre-procedure instructions and/or to confirm appointments.Performs insurance verification and/or pre-authorizations as necessary.May be responsible for managing the referral work queue, entering patient demographic information, and scanning documents into an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.May correspond with referring providers and/or patients for reports, information exchange, scheduling, x-rays, and paperwork.May provide administrative support for Physicians or Nurse Practitioners.Skills and Attributes:Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.Works under general supervision.Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Applies more advanced skills and knowledge in the area of specialization.Position Requirements:Work ExperienceNo experience requiredEducationHigh school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher preferredLicensure/Certification/RegistrationBLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position.Organizational Responsibilities:Supports Owensboro Health’s Mission, Vision, Core Commitments, and business interests.
