Accountant I

This position will be open to internal and external candidates and close on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

The Accountant I position pays between $55,520 - $69,400. Placement in any level is based on the skills, education and experience of the successful candidate.

In this role, you will be responsible for performing accounting and financial reporting functions, including, but not limited to, account reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, audit support, account analysis, and special projects as needed, among other duties. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries.
• Reconcile and maintain general ledger accounts.
• Prepare reports filed with regulatory agencies.
• Contribute to department month-end close responsibilities, including assisting with financial statement preparation.
• Prepare account and variance analyses and research account variances.
• Assist with the preparation of budget and forecasts and support peer review activities.
• Support ad hoc reporting and departmental projects.
• Assist with the preparation of data requests.

Successful Candidate Must Have:

• Bachelor's in Accounting, Business Administration or related financial discipline.
• A valid driver's license and meet the acceptable driving record requirements of NMGC.
