Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level III NICU travel position requiring Epic proficiency and delivery attendance experience, with night shift scheduling and an every-other-weekend commitment.

Details

• Hospital-based NICU setting at a Level III acuity unit
• Patient ratio of 1:2–3 in the NICU
• Floating required to the Newborn Observation Unit (NOU) at a 1:4–6 ratio, as well as to the normal newborn nursery
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Self-scheduling with an every-other-weekend obligation
• Holiday coverage required for at least 1 major and 1 minor holiday
• Epic EMR experience required
• Procedures performed include assisting with chest tube insertion, PICC/UAC/UVC placement, CBG and ABG draws, x-rays, ultrasounds, echocardiograms, EEGs, intubation, oxygen and nitric oxide administration, and exchange transfusions
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active Louisiana (LA) RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 3 years of NICU experience required
• Level III NICU experience required
• Delivery attendance experience (vaginal and C-section) required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in neonatal IV placement, lab draws, ventilator management, and central line management
• Experience with medication administration via IV, IM, SQ, ETT, OGT, NGT, oral, rectal, topical routes, and eye drops/ointment
• Blood product administration experience required
• Supervisor reference dated within the last 12 months required for consideration
• Copy of Driver's License required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include attending deliveries and assisting with newborn transition, admitting and discharging NICU and NOU patients, and coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team (NNP, MD, RN, Social Services, RT, Radiology, OT)
• Parent education, updates, and breastfeeding support are key components of this role
• Grape/purple scrubs required
• RTO is limited to 5 days or fewer for the duration of the contract
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
• Former permanent employees of any LCMC facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
