Reports To: Pastor of Congregational Care Date: April 2026 Job Summary As a Director of Pastoral Care, you will play a vital role in organizing and sustaining the diverse care ministries of our congregation. The Director of Pastoral Care reports directly to the Associate Pastor of Congregational Care. This multifaceted position requires a blend of compassionate communication and strong administrative skills. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional capable of balancing sensitive interpersonal needs with the organized management of interdepartmental communication and church wide care initiatives. Responsibilities General Administration & Communication Information Management: Maintain all hospital, prayer, and obituary lists, and distribute prayer requests to relevant groups, such as deacons, elders, and other church leadership. Coordination & Scheduling: Manage the Pastor On-Call and hospital visitation schedules, and process incoming care calls to assess member needs. Operational Support: Oversee the department budget, attend weekly staff meetings, and update pastoral care announcements for "Sundays at a Glance." Deacons Ministry Oversight Leadership & Training: Oversee the Diaconate ministry, which includes conducting yearly training for incoming classes and providing updates on new procedures to current deacons. Operational Management: Schedule and prepare agendas for three to four annual meetings and manage the quarterly "Deacon on Duty" visitation rotations and lists. Reporting & Recognition: Review all care reports for accuracy, plan the annual deacon reception, and manage outgoing gifts and memorial engravings. Service Planning: Act as the primary organizer and liaison between families and staff (Facilities, AV, Music, Pastors) to handle death preplans and schedule funeral services. Logistics & Collateral: Create funeral bulletins, send official death notices, and coordinate necessary logistics for on-site services. Ongoing Support: Coordinate mailings of "The Journey of Grief" and provide administrative support for the annual Service of Solace and Remembrance. Records & Sales: Maintain all columbarium paperwork and online records, and assist interested parties with niche selection and payment processing. Administration & Invoicing: Manage the yearly invoicing for partial payments and oversee all related financial documentation. Maintenance & Engraving: Coordinate niche-cover engravings, submit required work orders for installation, and manage Memorial Wall engraving sales. Preferred Qualifications To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate should possess a blend of theological understanding, administrative proficiency, and a heart for congregational care. Education & Experience Prior Chaplaincy Experience: Demonstrated experience in a church/parish, healthcare, hospice, or military setting, with a strong background in providing emotional and spiritual support during crises. Theological Training: A degree in Theology, Divinity, or a related field (or equivalent ministry experience) is preferred. Ministry Skills Pastoral Care & Counseling: Proven ability to provide compassionate care to individuals facing illness, grief, or life transitions. Lay Leadership Development: Experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers, specifically within programs like Stephen Ministry or a Diaconate. Service Coordination: Familiarity with planning and officiating/assisting in funeral and memorial services. Administrative & Technical Proficiency Organization: Strong multitasking skills to manage Columbarium records, departmental budgets, and church-wide schedules. Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills for drafting bulletins, announcements, and sensitive correspondence. Software Skills: Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Groups) and volunteer management tools like SignUpGenius. Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunities to move about. In rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles. Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Job Title Small Groups Director Classification Full-time FLSA Status Exempt - Salary Reports To Pastor of Discipleship Updated April 2026 Job Summary Reporting to the Pastor of Discipleship, this position is responsible for providing guidance and oversight to Small Groups. The purpose of this ministry is to utilize a holistic approach to connect and disciple people of all ages and life seasons 1) so that relationships of radical affection and accountability are formed and 2) Members of the congregation are strengthened and prepared to live missionally in their families, vocations and neighborhoods. 3) Members are connected to appropriate small groups to further their relationship with each other and the Church. Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities Guidance and oversight of the Small Groups that are in alignment with the Session’s designated mission, values and strategic priorities. Recruit and train lay volunteers to serve and support the ministry and small groups. Assess current programs and implement programmatic changes to create a robust community that connects covenant partners relationally and nurtures spiritual growth through community and shared curriculum. Work with the Part Time Director of Discipleship and the Discipleship Coordinator to delegate program tasks including recruitment, event planning, registration, group follow up, leader trainings, training materials, and other ministry specific tasks and items as needed. In partnership with the New Covenant Partner Team, work to create a natural transition for new covenant partners to integrate more fully with the church and its members. Maintain healthy relationships with small group leaders (40+) to serve and train them in their continued efforts of leadership. Plan, organize and execute events for this ministry. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must have a relationship with Jesus Christ and commitment to a Christian lifestyle. Must have a passion for working with people and advancing the ministry for the glory of God. Must be or willing to become covenant partner of FPCO. Previous ministry experience is highly desirable. Bachelor’s Degree. Skills and Abilities Ability to connect and build relationships with staff and diverse groups of people. Skillful influencer and ability to engage/recruit volunteers. Job Title Child Care Provider Department Children’s Ministry Schedule Part-time/Sundays Rate of Pay $14.00 SUMMARY This position reports to the Director of Children’s ministry to provide childcare during Sunday services. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the developmental stages and needs of infants to kindergarten age (birth to 6 years old), a desire to be a team player and help with children in a positive, nurturing, church/faith-based environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for the safety and well-being of the children while leading them through directed activities. Responsible for communication with parents regarding their child during drop-off and pick-up. Stay informed and follow current child care regulations and guidelines provided by the church. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Desire and ability to work with children, birth to 6 years old. Demonstrated responsibility, dependability and punctuality. Must be comfortable working in a church/faith environment. Teachable and willing to learn and grow in a professional environment. 2 years previous child care experience in a child care or classroom setting preferred. AA Degree in Early Childhood or CDA a plus. CPR/AED and First Aid Certification a plus; opportunity for this also provided by the church on a periodic basis. WORK ENVIRONMENT The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl when interacting with children. Able to lift 25 pounds on an occasional basis. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, sometimes loud (music from worship band/musical instruments and/or children).
