Develop and promote good relations among community and school clientele. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure team understanding of speech-language needs of students. Work with the team to optimize student success. Utilize diagnostic assessments to assess and provide intervention services to students who exhibit communication disorders that impact achievement and social functioning behavior (including articulation, receptive/expressive language, auditory processing, fluency, voice, written language, and literacy). Monitor progress toward Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. Assess and provide intervention to English language learners. Create a learning environment characterized by effective and efficient process management strategies (e.g., procedures, instructional groups, transition materials, and supplies). Apply various intervention models (push-in or pull-out). Implement knowledge of content area, teaching methodologies, learning styles, and educational research related to students of all levels and abilities. Design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources within the speech-language field to maximize learning in context and develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes aligned with 21st Century learning. Utilize phonemic awareness and literacy interventions (multi-sensory reading, reading comprehension, etc.). Use assessment data for evaluation and refinement of instructional practices. When appropriate, provide small group and individualized services to all levels (cognitive delay, autism, learning disabled, emotionally disabled, and speech-language eligible students). Provide quality, accurate, constructive, corrective, specific, and timely feedback to students to encourage them to perform at their highest level. Effectively communicate with parents and regular education staff about communication disorders at IEP meetings and conferences. Utilize technology and/or other avenues to communicate with stakeholders (e.g., website, podcasts). Establish student, staff, and parental rapport to enable a proactive response to potential problems. Teach, monitor, and collaborate with educational personnel, community agencies, parents, and students to increase understanding of the student's speech and language needs. Demonstrate knowledge of normal and deviant development of receptive, expressive, and pragmatic language, articulation, fluency, and voice. Participate in continuing education for professional development to ensure practices are consistent with best practices. Use professional literature, evidence-based research, and continuing education content to make practice decisions. Use professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision-making in practice. Notify the Principal and Director of Student Services of any failure to implement the requirements of assigned students' IEPs. Maintain student records and Medicaid documentation. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Supervision and Technical Responsibilities Supervision of support personnel involves conducting supervisory duties in accordance with the organization's policies and relevant laws. These responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, participating in interviews, providing training and development opportunities, assigning and directing work, offering performance feedback, and addressing complaints to resolve issues. Budget and/or Resource Responsibilities Prioritize and schedule work tasks independently. Manage and maintain inventory of equipment and assessments. Maintain clinical and administrative records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and school system policy. Review services for improvements and make changes as needed to ensure quality of services. Education, Training, Experience Master of Arts degree in Communication Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology. English fluency will be determined through the application and interview process and licensure. Licenses or Certifications Valid Colorado Driver's License. Valid Colorado Special Services License, Speech-Language Pathologist endorsed. Hold an active National Provider Identifier (NPI) and Health First Colorado (Colorado's Medicaid program) account and provide NPI and Health First Colorado account information to the District Medicaid Coordinator. Current ASHA Certification (preferred). General Expectations Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in response to change. Possesses computer and technology skills. Effectively works with students from diverse backgrounds and abilities. Collaborates well with supervisors and co-workers. Capable of understanding and following both complex oral and written instructions. Able to perform duties independently with minimal supervision. Communicates effectively with the School District community. Skilled in analysis, instruction, negotiation, coordination, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal interactions. Proficient in comparing, computing, synthesizing, and evaluating information. Meets attendance standards and works the necessary hours to fulfill essential responsibilities. Upholds a generally positive attitude. Complies with all District policies and procedures. Adheres to federal and state laws, regulations, and policies. Essential Physical Requirements Frequent lifting 5 to 10 pounds. Occasional lifting of up to 150 pounds. Frequent sitting, bending, walking, and standing. Occasional bending, stooping, walking, standing, kneeling, squatting, and reaching. Work Environment The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Mostly clean and comfortable. Reports To Principal and Executive Director of Student Services. Location Cherrelyn Elementary. Salary Salary placement from $53,464 - $103,027 based upon education, experience and Master Agreement. Current Salary Schedule posted at Salary Schedules - Englewood Schools. Per the Negotiated Agreement, Special Service Providers will be granted outside experience for state, agency, or private clinical or hospital employment only if they were appropriately licensed and half or more of their primary responsibilities involved pre-kindergarten through 12th grade‑aged students or other relevant work that specifically translates to a connection with the serviced student population in the District. In addition, Special Service Providers will receive an annual stipend in the amount of $1,000 paid in the last paycheck of the school year for obtaining and maintaining certification as outlined in Article 7.6 of the Negotiated Agreement. Additional Information New hires or rehires will be responsible for the fingerprint processing fee required for background checks through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Per the negotiated agreement, all licensed staff that start after student first day are temporary.
