Job Summary Patterson Companies, Inc. is seeking a driven entry‑level tradesperson to join our Dental Service team. The core responsibility for a Service Technician Specialist is to work independently on all basic core equipment installs and repairs, delivering first‑class customer experience. Essential Functions Safely remove, modify, repair, and install core dental equipment with minimal supervision. Inspect pre‑installed products for defects or damage, and perform final post‑installation inspections to ensure proper operation. Execute basic installation procedures and follow jobsite protocol. Maintain all service records promptly and accurately. Ensure safe transportation and delivery of products to customer locations. Verify that manufacturer, Patterson, OSHA, and applicable laws and regulations related to asepsis are followed. Perform other duties as assigned. Customer Service Supports customer needs through timely and professional responses, demonstrating passion and a people‑first approach by treating customers respectfully and building lasting relationships. Communication Conveys information clearly to customers, listens attentively, asks clarifying questions, and uses general terminology to explain technical aspects to non‑technical audiences. Additional Functions Work ethic: commitment and sense of urgency to overcome obstacles while adhering to Patterson’s code of ethics. Problem‑solving skills: anticipate problems and troubleshoot install and basic repair issues to meet customer needs. Interpersonal skills: establish and maintain productive relationships with customers, vendors, and colleagues, handling difficult situations in a constructive manner. Inventory management: determine parts, supplies, or tools needed to complete service requests and manage vehicle inventory. Personal/vehicle safety: maintain a quality driving record, represent Patterson Dental safely, schedule regular vehicle maintenance. Job Qualifications Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 1‑2 years of comparable service experience or equivalent experience. Successfully completed Basic Install Certification through the Patterson Technical Academy with the ability to become Patterson Certified within 6 months. Mechanical aptitude. Strong work ethic focused on achieving company and customer goals. Independent worker. Basic computer skills and/or ability to use smartphone/tablet. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Valid driver’s license with good driving record. Preferred Qualifications Trade school training in carpentry, plumbing, heating, electricity, or electronics (highly desirable). Excellent organization and problem‑solving skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Teams. Working Conditions Physical Demands Remain stationary or driving up to 100% of the day. Lift boxes and dental supplies up to 25 pounds at up to 75% of the day. Position oneself to install/maintain equipment, including under cabinets, up to 50% of the day. Reach at shoulder level and waist level up to 25% of the day. Move/lift equipment weighing 26‑49 pounds up to 5% of the day; up to 100 pounds up to 5% of the day. Move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds into place less than 5% of the day. Climb steps and/or ladders less than 5% of the day. Environmental Factors Travel to customer locations for service and support. Travel and On‑call 100% travel to customer sites within a local geographic area.
