Utility Technician

About Aqua Aqua, a division of Essential Utilities, provides water and wastewater services across eight states. Responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair valves, meters, gauges, pumps, and related equipment in water and wastewater systems using hand and power tools. Operate and perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment such as trucks, trenching apparatus, and other machinery. Load and unload equipment, chemicals, and supplies at worksites and storage areas. Operate medium construction equipment under the supervision of a qualified operator. Adhere to all safety and security policies, procedures, and standards to ensure a safe working environment. Perform ground keeping and custodial work as assigned. Resolve routine problems and notify management of issues outside the scope of responsibility. Read meters when needed. Update and maintain documentation of work activities, including closing work orders in the system. Assist with other tasks or projects as assigned. No previous experience required, although mechanical and/or electrical experience is preferred. Valid U.S. driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications Experience maintaining filter systems such as Clack, Fleck, or Kinetico. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Familiarity with computers and work systems such as Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong customer service skills. Ability to work well under pressure and on multiple projects simultaneously. Adaptability to changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment. A team player who thrives in a collaborative, multi‑tasking setting. Working Conditions / Physical Demands Exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, wet and/or humid conditions, and potential mechanical and electrical hazards. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. May involve travel to work sites and occasional on‑call duties per site schedule.
