About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days or 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years minimum License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Stroke certification and experience caring for stroke patients. Prior telemetry, stepdown, or high acuity telemetry experience required. Description: This position is for a cardiac telemetry floor. The nurse will care for patients with complex medical conditions, including stroke, heart failure, respiratory failure, diabetes, and hypertension. Nurses are expected to read and interpret their own telemetry strips and may need to perform primary nursing duties when aide support is not available. There is potential for extra shifts, but block or set scheduling cannot be accommodated. Candidates must be available for two weekends every four weeks and work holidays as necessary. The average nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 4, and charge nurses typically do not take patients. The role includes caring for post-operative patients and those recovering from cardiac catheterization procedures. Additional responsibilities may include administering non-titratable IV medications, while titration of heparin may be performed. Emergency medical support, including respiratory therapy and pharmacy services, is available 24/7. Travelers are encouraged to be flexible and prepared for potential floating to other units as needed. Prior experience with electronic medical records is preferred.
