Configuration Management / Systems Administrator

Position Overview Vision IT is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Configuration Management / Systems Administrator to support mission-critical operations at Los Angeles Air Force Base. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience in systems administration, configuration management, cybersecurity compliance, and infrastructure support within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This is a fully onsite position requiring an active Secret security clearance. (This Position is Contingent Upon Award) Key Responsibilities Manage and maintain Windows and/or Linux server environments in accordance with DoD standards and security policies. Perform configuration management activities including system baselining, version control, change tracking, and documentation management. Support system patching, updates, vulnerability remediation, and security hardening activities. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support for infrastructure and enterprise applications. Maintain configuration management databases (CMDB) and ensure accurate inventory and asset tracking. Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), technical documentation, and system diagrams. Assist with Authority to Operate (ATO) processes, STIG implementation, and compliance audits. Collaborate with cybersecurity, network, and engineering teams to ensure secure and reliable system operations. Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning activities. Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and deployment initiatives. Required Qualifications Active Secret Clearance (required prior to start). Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may be substituted. 3+ years of experience in Systems Administration and/or Configuration Management within a DoD or federal environment. Experience administering Windows Server and/or Linux operating systems. Familiarity with configuration management tools and processes. Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, STIGs, RMF, and NIST compliance requirements. Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper‑V. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and in a team‑oriented environment. Preferred Qualifications Security+ CE, CISSP, Microsoft, Linux, or VMware certifications. Experience supporting U.S. Space Force, Air Force, or other DoD programs. Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python. Experience with enterprise monitoring and ticketing systems.
