Submerged Arc and MIG Fabrication Welder

Location: Sharonville, OH

Employment Type: Night Shift • Full-time • Direct Hire

You clock in for the night shift and start by confirming your work area meets 5S standards. You verify parts, tooling, and fixtures are staged and ready, then set preheat on components before aligning pre-fitted parts with clamps, jigs, and positioners. Following approved procedures and AWS symbols, you run submerged arc (SAW), MIG, and Stick welds—occasionally using automatic welding equipment and positioners for long seams. Between passes, you inspect and measure work to blueprint tolerances, allowing the correct machining stock. You document parameters, support 5-Why problem solving when issues arise, and keep quality, safety, and continuous improvement at the forefront.

• Prepare work area, parts, tooling, and equipment prior to welding operations.
• Operate SAW, MIG, and Stick equipment, including automatic systems and positioners.
• Fit and set up components using hand tools, clamps, jigs, and fixtures.
• Follow approved weld procedures, drawings, work instructions, and AWS welding symbols.
• Inspect and measure against blueprints, including machining-stock allowances.
• Set and maintain required preheat and post-heat conditions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace per 5S and company safety expectations.
• Contribute to quality and maintenance problem solving, including 5-Why analysis.

• Demonstrated submerged arc welding (SAW) experience in industrial/heavy fabrication settings.
• Certified welder, or ability to qualify to procedures and maintain certifications.
• Proficiency reading fabrication drawings, blueprints, weld instructions, and AWS symbols.
• Hands-on experience with fit-up, clamps, jigs, fixtures, positioners, and standard hand tools.
• Accurate measurement skills and understanding of machining stock requirements.
• Reliability and safety focus on the designated night shift.
• Two or more years of relevant industrial welding, fabrication, or comparable hands-on experience.
• MIG and Stick welding experience for fit-up and multi-component assemblies.
• Experience setting/maintaining preheat and post-heat furnaces or following heat-treatment instructions.
• Background with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 systems.
• Experience with 5S, root-cause problem solving, and reducing nonconforming work.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar manufacturing ERP.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability to move or lift 50+ lbs; reach, grasp, hold, push, pull, bend, twist, squat, climb, kneel; hand/eye coordination; stand for prolonged periods.
• Clear, effective communication skills.
