Technical Program Manager

About the Role We are looking for a highly technical Technical Program Manager to drive some of the company's most important product and engineering initiatives. This is a broad, high-impact role that sits at the intersection of Engineering, Product, Design, leadership, and external stakeholders. You will help define roadmaps, translate strategic objectives into executable plans, drive complex software initiatives from concept through launch, and ensure teams remain aligned across priorities, dependencies, and timelines. The ideal candidate is someone who has spent their career working deeply with software products and technical teams and can comfortably move between strategic planning and hands-on execution. A background in software engineering or computer science is strongly preferred, as this person will be expected to understand technical architecture, engineering tradeoffs, product dependencies, and the realities of building and scaling software. Depending on the initiative, this role may also interact directly with customers, partners, developers, or other external stakeholders. What You'll Do Lead complex, cross-functional software programs from initial concept and roadmap development through execution and launch. Partner closely with Engineering, Product, Design, and executive leadership to define priorities and translate company objectives into clear technical roadmaps. Own program planning across multiple engineering teams, including milestones, dependencies, risks, resourcing, and delivery timelines. Develop and maintain product and technical roadmaps in partnership with senior stakeholders. Translate business and product requirements into actionable plans for engineering teams. Work closely with engineers and technical leaders to understand architectural decisions, technical constraints, and tradeoffs. Drive quarterly and long-range planning across Engineering and Product. Identify cross-team dependencies early and proactively remove blockers to delivery. Establish clear operating rhythms, communication structures, and reporting across complex initiatives. Improve visibility into project and program status for leadership and stakeholders. Develop scalable program management processes as the organization continues to grow. Partner with customer-facing or external stakeholders when programs require direct collaboration with users, developers, partners, or enterprise customers. Support product launches and ensure coordinated execution across technical and non-technical teams. Continuously identify ways to improve planning, execution, communication, and accountability across the organization. What We're Looking For 5-8+ years of experience in technical program management, technical product management, software engineering, or a related role working closely with software development teams. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or another highly technical field strongly preferred . Prior professional experience as a software engineer is highly desirable . Extensive experience delivering complex software products or platforms. Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, system architecture, APIs, infrastructure, and modern engineering practices. Demonstrated experience building and managing complex product or engineering roadmaps. Experience driving large, cross-functional initiatives involving Engineering, Product, Design, and business stakeholders. Ability to translate high-level company goals into detailed technical execution plans. Strong product intuition and the ability to understand both technical and customer needs. Experience managing programs involving multiple teams, dependencies, and stakeholders across different time zones. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both engineers and executives. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail. Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment with changing priorities and incomplete information. Self-directed and proactive, with the ability to identify what needs to be done without waiting for detailed instructions. Experience with tools such as Jira, Linear, Asana, Smartsheet, or similar project/program management platforms. Must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate. Nice to Have Experience working on developer platforms, APIs, SDKs, infrastructure products, or technical ecosystems. Experience with mobile applications or large-scale consumer software products. Experience in customer-facing, partner-facing, or developer-facing roles. Strong understanding of UX/UI principles and interaction design. Experience working in highly distributed or global organizations. Experience working directly with founders, executives, or highly technical leadership teams.
