Staff AccountantThe Staff Accountant obtains and processes financial data for use in maintaining accounting records for the Prairie Island Indian Community. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule after six (6) months of satisfactory job performance.Duties And ResponsibilitiesThe following duties and responsibilities are not meant to be all inclusive and may be adjusted to meet business needs.Create recurring journal entries monthlyAssist in processing journal entries into the accounting system dailyPrepare bank reconciliations for bank accountsScan forms and documentsAssist in processing tribal loans to Tribal members weeklyLearn the accounts payable system to assist during employee absencesLearn the payroll system to assist during employee absencesReview of Dakota Station daily revenues and various reportsMaintain monthly grant reporting spreadsheetsPrepare invoices as neededReview and reconcile general ledger accounts monthlyCreate and send monthly department budget reports to the directors and managersEnter the annual budget into the accounting system annuallyOther duties as assignedMinimum Require QualificationsAssociate’s degree in accounting or related fieldMinimum of two (2) years related experience with payroll, accounting systems, computers and spreadsheetsHigh attention to detail and excellent time management skillsExcellent organizational skillsAbility to maintain strict standards of confidentialityExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong computer skills Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervisionAbility to work well within the existing team and government structureSensitive to Native American CultureMust pass drug screen (UA) and a criminal background checkValid driver’s license and proof of insurabilityPreferredADP software experiencePhysical DemandsMust have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 poundsMust be able to sit for long periods of time with occasional amounts of standing or walkingRequired TrainingEffectively Handling Harassment trainingAny position-related training as determined by department managerWorking EnvironmentWork is performed primarily in an office setting, but may include occasional outdoor activitiesDisclaimer And Conditions Of EmploymentAll Prairie Island Indian Community employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily and, if requested, reasonable accommodations will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their job, absent undue hardship.The Prairie Island Indian Community Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance applies to this and all employment opportunities for the Community.
