The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology unit consists of 11 beds and delivers specialized care to infants, children, adolescents, and young adults facing various hematological and oncological conditions. Our multidisciplinary team is dedicated to providing comprehensive, family-centered care throughout the treatment process, which includes chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood transfusions, bone marrow transplants, symptom management, and end-of-life care. As a center engaged in clinical research, we offer patients access to cutting-edge clinical trials while ensuring compassionate, evidence-based care that aims for optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough patient assessments and identify subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients.
• Administer safe, evidence-based medications and treatments, providing hands-on care grounded in sound clinical judgment.
• Collaborate with physicians and advanced providers, offering insights that facilitate timely and coordinated care decisions.
• Deliver clear and compassionate education to patients and families, ensuring they feel informed and prepared for the next steps in their care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record to support continuity and patient safety.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, contributing to effective communication and smooth transitions of care.
• Engage actively in a collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly influence outcomes.

Qualifications:

To be eligible for this RN position, you must possess:

• An active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification, and APHON Chemotherapy Certification are required.
• A minimum of one year of pediatric nursing experience is necessary, with prior pediatric oncology experience preferred.
• An Associate’s degree in Nursing is required; a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is strongly preferred.
• Experience in patient care and familiarity with electronic medical record systems (EMR), such as EPIC, is advantageous.

This position involves Night Shift work, totaling 36 hours per week from 7 PM to 7:30 AM.
