The Commodity Procurement Director for Boise Cascade’s Building Materials Distribution (BMD) division is responsible for leading, strategizing, and coaching the commodity procurement team to execute the department’s key activities. This role is focused on optimizing procurement practices, leveraging purchasing volume, maintaining supplier relationships, and driving profitability while ensuring compliance with company policies. The position encompasses all General Line products and requires the integration of data and technology for informed decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Guide and coach the general line team to accomplish departmental goals.
• Set agendas, provide direction, and foster collaboration within the team.
• Disseminate market and product information across the organization.
• Provide guidance to BMD branches on market trends, future direction, and strategies to maximize profitability.
• Serve as the central hub for leveraging BMD’s purchasing volume and information collection.
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with key suppliers.
• Demonstrate strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications : College Degree, or equivalent work experience in related job function.

Preferred Qualifications : Typically, more than 10 years of experience in related job function; May require professional certification and/or advanced degree.
