Actuarial AssociateAmeritas Life Insurance Corp. is seeking an Actuarial Associate to drive the business by allowing you to work with a variety of existing and new products. In addition, this role will interact with a wide range of associates within our various business lines as well as our enterprise service areas.At Ameritas, our mission is Fulfilling Life. Because we believe everyone should be happy, healthy, and financially secure, we work hard to provide trusted financial products and valued guidance, including individual life and disability insurance, employee benefits, retirement planning, investments, and wealth management services.Position Location:This is a Lincoln, NE or Cincinnati, OH hybrid role working partially in-office and partially from home.What You Do:Provide actuarial expertise to various areas of the company to assure high quality service.Provide timely and accurate work products.Review and implement business requirements.Compile and analyze data, using statistical formulas and other actuarial methodsAssist in developing, implementing and performing procedures to comply with new regulatory, control or governance requirements.Perform static and dynamic validation of actuarial models, ensuring accuracy of projections and compliance with departmental applications of that particular model.Develop new procedures to improve on existing processes.Work on special projects as directed by the managing actuary or the department head.Document decisions made, processes put into place and other work performed.Make progress toward attaining the Society of Actuaries' FSA designation through passing exams and/or completing modules.Other Functions May Include:Pricing support for products. Pricing includes analysis on a statutory, GAAP and value-added basis. This may include the development of tools and the review of advertising and sales material. Also, this may include support for the filing of products with state insurance departments.Provide support for the company's financial plan as well as support for reconciling actual actuarial values to the plan.Support customer service with technical matters or speaking directly with internal and external sales associates.Analyze sales results to identify trends in business mix.Assist in the analysis and review of new or revised product specifications to implement product changes in the modeling and/or valuation software. Includes identification of new data requirements for new product features.Assist the managing actuary in responding to valuation and modeling-related questions and requests for information from internal product and risk-analysis actuaries, accountants, auditors, management and other associates, as well as external rating agencies, auditors and regulators.Set up, test and maintain actuarial models for the specified actuarial purpose.Support actuarial risk management projects as requested.Assist in producing company experience studies as requested and the analysis of actuarial assumptions.What You Bring:Credit for a minimum of two of the following Society of Actuaries requirements needed to obtain the Associate of the Society of Actuaries designation: all 3 VEE Subjects, Exam P, Exam FM, Exam FAM, Exam ALTAM/ASTAM, Exam SRM, Exam PA, ATPA, or the FAP Final Assessment.Candidates are required to meet one of the following criteria:Completion of at least 2 months in the Ameritas Actuarial Internship Program (current or prior)Be a current Ameritas associate seeking entry into the Actuarial Associate career pathMust have a graduation date no later than August 2027. Candidates must be available to start full-time no earlier than May 2027.Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related fieldAbility to accurately perform detailed calculations with a general understanding of how those calculations impact higher-level values in the company's financial statements.Ability to clearly and thoroughly document assumptions, decisions, processes and other work performed.Basic knowledge of insurance products and concepts, actuarial theory and techniques, and regulation of the insurance industry.Understanding of advanced mathematical and statistical concepts.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.Strong analytical, problem solving, written and oral communication, and organizational skills.Experience with Microsoft Office.Ability to multi-task and switch back and forth between projects as needed.Willingness to learn new software tools and packages.Willingness to work a flexible schedule as needed.What We Offer:A meaningful mission.
