Field Service Manager

JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for leading the Field Service team, including field service technicians and administrative support, to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality service. This role provides day-to-day leadership for field operations, coordinating resources, schedules, and priorities to meet customer needs and organizational objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Promote the company culture to all employees in your department.
- Maintain a safe working environment for all areas that are your responsibility.
- Set time goals for all work performed in the field and target an 85% efficiency.
- Maintain a technician utilization rate of at least 80% across all branches.
- Ensure that all hours are charged to sales and service orders.
- Maintain the profitability set at the beginning of each fiscal year in your business plan.
- Continuous process improvement of field service operations through skills training, lessons learned sessions, safety training, and increased efficiency.
- Coordinate with sales to target service contract opportunities with key customers.
- Plan for equipment needs and repairs as well as departmental MPE.
- Coordinate and schedule outside work as required with various departments.
- Develop the Field Service Lead technician role to handle on-the-job training of new technicians, and first point of contact for troubleshooting, and estimating of field work.
- Oversee that service documentation is completed on time and per the QA manual.
- Maintain personal contact with key customers and manufacturers.
- Maintain the truck stock inventory levels and ensure that inventory is charged to orders promptly.
- Attend management meetings as required.
- Oversee employee compliance with all company policies and programs.
- Oversee employee compliance with licensures and certifications.
- Maintain the Field Service training matrix, requiring the team to seek training and growth opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a Field Service training program, which includes panel wiring and troubleshooting, pump startup and troubleshooting, and safety training.
- Recruit, qualify, interview, hire, train, and develop personnel.
TRAVEL:
- Visit the branches to interact with your employees regularly. This is important to maintain culture, policies, and procedures.
- Attend meetings as requested.
- Attend safety training as required.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Business, or related experience required.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- 10 years of industry experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Able to carry out a series of work instructions without constant supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize.
- Must be highly motivated and a self-starter with strong leadership skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products and industry-related software.
