Phlebotomy TechnicianPay Range: $22.24hr - $24.00hrRequirement/Must Have:Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment as required.Minimum of 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.Responsibilities:Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination.Update patient information accurately.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) in a clear and courteous manner.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.Fully understand all physician orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.Package specimens for transport.Store specimen samples according to required temperatures and place samples in appropriate collection containers.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.Skills:Phlebotomy.Venipuncture.Specimen Processing.Centrifugation.Data Entry.OSHA Compliance.Microsoft Office Suite.Qualification And Education:2-4 years of experience.
