Grounds Worker

Overall Purpose


To perform the maintenance, care, and modification of grounds and landscaping which includes the operation of electrically-powered and gasoline-powered groundskeeping equipment and machines, and the use of small hand and power tools or equipment in planting, cultivating, and trimming grounds and landscaping.

Essential Functions

• Maintains and cares for school grounds.
• Prepares and uses proper fertilizer and chemicals.
• Maintains and repairs landscape equipment and lawnmowers.
• Operates ground machinery as directed.
• Plants and maintains grass, shrubs, flowers and trees.
• Operates back hoe, tractor, bush hog, tiller and lawnmower.
• Works inside on assigned jobs during inclement weather.
• Communicates effectively with the staff members, students, administrators and other contact persons using tact and good judgment.
• Follows proper uniform rules.
• Ensures adherence to safety guidelines and procedures established by Walton County School District.

Requirements


High School Diploma or GED Certificate preferred.


Must hold a valid Georgia driver's license.


Knowledgeable in general landscaping methods.

Physical Requirements


Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of


force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force as needed to move objects.

Education/Training


Successful experience in job related area preferred.
