Role Description This is a part-time, on-site Optometrist role located in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Optometrist will perform comprehensive eye examinations, including refractions, binocular vision assessments, and ocular health evaluations for patients of diverse ages and visual needs. Responsibilities include diagnosing and managing refractive errors and common ocular conditions, prescribing glasses and contact lenses, and co-managing medical eye conditions in coordination with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals. The Optometrist will educate patients on eye health, treatment options, and preventive care, while maintaining accurate, timely clinical documentation in the practice’s records system. The role also involves collaborating with front-office and technical staff to ensure efficient patient flow, a positive patient experience, and adherence to clinical and regulatory standards. Qualifications Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution and active, unrestricted optometry license (or eligibility) in the state of California. Strong clinical skills in comprehensive eye exams, refraction, contact lens fitting, and diagnosis/management of common ocular conditions. Ability to provide clear, empathetic patient communication and education to individuals of varied ages, backgrounds, and visual needs. Comfort working in a fast-paced clinical environment with strong attention to detail, accurate charting, and time management. Commitment to ethical, evidence-based care and willingness to stay current with optometric best practices and continuing education. Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with technicians, front-desk staff, and other healthcare professionals. Experience with electronic health records and basic practice technology; familiarity with diagnostic equipment (e.g., autorefractors, OCT, visual fields) is preferred. Prior clinical experience in private practice or medical optometry settings is beneficial, though newly licensed clinicians are encouraged to apply.
