# SHIPPING/RECEIVING SUPERVISORCorporate - Oklahoma City, OK 73127## OverviewLevelExperienced## Description**Position Summary**The Shipping/Receiving Manager/Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shipping and receiving department to ensure the accurate, safe, timely, and efficient movement of products and materials. This position coordinates incoming and outgoing shipments, manages inventory flow, ensures proper documentation, supervises department employees, and works closely with other departments, vendors, carriers, and customers.The Shipping/Receiving Manager/Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe and organized work environment while ensuring that company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements are followed.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities****Shipping Operations*** Oversee and coordinate daily shipping activities to ensure orders are processed and shipped accurately and on schedule.* Review shipping orders, packing lists, invoices, bills of lading, and other required documentation for accuracy.* Ensure products are properly picked, packed, labeled, staged, and loaded for shipment.* Schedule and coordinate freight pickups and deliveries with carriers.* Select or coordinate appropriate shipping methods and carriers based on cost, delivery requirements, and customer needs.* Monitor shipments and address delays, damages, shortages, or other transportation issues.* Ensure shipping documentation is completed accurately and maintained in accordance with company procedures.* Coordinate expedited or special shipments when necessary.* Communicate shipping status and issues to customers, sales, purchasing, production, and management as appropriate.**Receiving Operations*** Oversee the receiving of incoming materials, products, supplies, and equipment.* Verify shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and other documentation.* Inspect incoming materials for quantity, accuracy, damage, and general condition.* Ensure discrepancies, shortages, overages, or damaged goods are properly documented and reported.* Coordinate the timely movement of received materials to the appropriate warehouse, production, or storage area.* Maintain accurate receiving records and documentation.* Work with Purchasing and vendors to resolve receiving discrepancies and damaged shipments.**Inventory and Warehouse Coordination*** Maintain accurate inventory movement and documentation related to shipping and receiving activities.* Monitor inventory levels and identify discrepancies or unusual activity.* Assist with or coordinate physical inventory counts and reconciliations.* Ensure materials and products are properly identified, stored, and organized.* Maintain an orderly warehouse and shipping/receiving area.* Work with Purchasing, Production, Sales, and other departments to coordinate material flow.* Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and warehouse efficiency.**Supervision and Leadership*** Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate shipping and receiving employees.* Assign daily work and establish priorities based on department needs.* Monitor employee performance, productivity, attendance, and adherence to company policies.* Provide coaching and corrective feedback when appropriate.* Train employees on shipping and receiving procedures, equipment operation, safety practices, and company policies.* Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.* Ensure adequate staffing to meet daily shipping and receiving requirements.* Approve or coordinate overtime as authorized by management.* Address employee questions and operational issues and escalate concerns when appropriate.**Safety and Compliance*** Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shipping and receiving environment.* Ensure employees follow all applicable safety policies and procedures.* Ensure proper use of forklifts, pallet jacks, loading equipment, and other warehouse equipment.* Monitor compliance with required safety training and equipment inspections.* Report workplace accidents, injuries, property damage, and safety concerns promptly.* Ensure hazardous materials, if applicable, are handled, labeled, stored, and shipped in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations.* Promote a safety-first culture throughout the department.**Process Improvement*** Identify opportunities to improve shipping, receiving, inventory, and warehouse processes.* Develop and implement procedures designed to improve accuracy, productivity, efficiency, and customer service.* Monitor department performance and identify areas requiring improvement.* Assist management with developing department goals, procedures, and performance standards.* Recommend improvements to equipment, technology, staffing, workflow, and processes.* Maintain accurate records and reports relating to department activities.**Customer and Vendor Relations*** Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, freight carriers, and service providers.* Investigate and resolve shipping and receiving issues in a timely manner.* Assist with customer inquiries regarding shipments, deliveries, shortages, damages, and delays.* Maintain professional relationships with carriers and vendors.* Escalate significant customer or vendor issues to management when appropriate.**Additional Responsibilities*** Maintain confidentiality of company, customer, vendor, and employee information.* Operate company vehicles or warehouse equipment when authorized and properly trained.* Assist with special projects and other operational needs as assigned.* Maintain a working knowledge of company policies and procedures.* Perform other duties as assigned by management.## Qualifications**Required Qualifications*** High school diploma or equivalent required.* Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, logistics, or distribution operations.* Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred.* Strong organizational and time-management skills.* Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.* Effective written and verbal communication skills.* Ability to work effectively with employees, management, customers, vendors, and transportation providers.* Basic computer skills and ability to learn company software and inventory/shipping systems.* Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.**Preferred Qualifications*** 2–5 years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, logistics, or distribution.* Previous experience supervising warehouse or shipping/receiving personnel.* Experience with inventory management systems, ERP systems, or warehouse management systems.* Forklift certification or experience operating material-handling equipment.* Experience with freight scheduling and transportation coordination.* Knowledge of OSHA and general warehouse safety requirements.**Physical Requirements**The physical requirements described below are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.* Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.* Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and packages as required.* Ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb, and maneuver within warehouse and shipping areas.* Ability to safely operate or work around warehouse equipment.* Ability to lift items weighing up to **[50] pounds**, with or without reasonable accommodation.* Ability to work in varying temperatures and warehouse/shipping environments, as applicable.* Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.**Working Conditions**The position generally works in a warehouse, shipping, receiving, or distribution environment and may be exposed to noise, dust, varying temperatures (mostly controlled temps), moving equipment, loading docks, and other typical warehouse conditions.The position may require occasional overtime, early morning, evening, weekend, or
