Senior FOIA Paralegal

Senior FOIA Paralegal Employment Type: Full Time, Mid-Level Department: Legal Senior FOIA Paralegal to support the legal mission of a large federal agency, performing legal review and FOIA request processing, and other litigation support tasks. Skills and Attributes for Success Conduct search and analyze result sets to separate non-responsive from responsive documents and screen responsive documents for privilege or FOIA exemptions. Redact and code responsive documents. Perform legal research. Draft legal documents. Qualifications Paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA‑accredited law school with at least one year of study. At least one year of litigation paralegal experience; trial experience is very helpful. Experience with Nuix Investigate, Relativity, or other eDiscovery and document review tools strongly desired. Experience processing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. Demonstrated knowledge of FOIA rules and regulations; ability to apply exemptions. Basic legal knowledge, including standard legal citation, ability to check legal motions and memorandums, and proficiency with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency with a variety of computer applications – word processing, database (document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems. Basic familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures. Ability to deliver high‑quality work under extreme pressure. Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking, understanding). Ability to work independently. Ability to obtain a government security clearance. Preferred Qualifications Two years experience using Nuix Investigate for document review and tagging. Two years experience processing FOIA requests for federal agencies. Fluency in statutory and regulatory guidelines for FOIA responses.
