Echo Tech

Independently performs diagnostic cardiac echocardiology procedures utilizing proper techniques and protocols. Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with registry in the operation of equipment. Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the Cardiopulmonary Department. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of duties in order to maintain equipment in good working condition. May perform other cardiology procedures in other modalities based on departmental needs. May have on call responsibilities.

Population served includes infants, pediatric/adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups.

Minimum level of education required is an associate degree in Allied Health with a major in Ultrasound/Sonographer. Licensure/certification/registration as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) is required, along with CPR certification.

Experience: No prior job-related work experience is required.

Knowledge/skills include proficiency in performing diagnostic procedures and obtaining diagnostic images for physician interpretation, proficiency in Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and proficiency in Cardiology Information Systems.
