We are looking for a Retail & Hospitality Manager who shares that philosophy and can translate it into exceptional day-to-day execution.

The Role

The Retail & Hospitality Manager is responsible for the overall guest experience and daily operation of Joy & Wylde's boutique, café and hospitality businesses.

This is a hands-on leadership position. You'll lead a small team, oversee merchandising and inventory, maintain operational standards, drive sales, and continually look for ways to make Joy & Wylde more enjoyable, beautiful and successful.

The ideal candidate combines the instincts of an exceptional host with the commercial discipline of a strong retail manager.

The Guest Experience

Your most important responsibility is creating an environment people love being in.

You'll oversee the complete guest experience across Joy & Wylde, including:

• Shopping & discovery: Creating an engaging boutique and gallery environment that encourages guests to explore, discover new things and interact with our team.
• Café & dining: Ensuring that food, coffee, wine and cocktails are served with warmth, quality and attention to presentation.
• Relaxation & hospitality: Making the riverside lawn and other gathering spaces inviting places where guests want to linger over a drink, conversation or afternoon by the river.
• Service: Ensuring every guest feels genuinely welcomed and receives attentive, gracious service whether they're purchasing a cup of coffee or an important piece of art.

You'll continually look at Joy & Wylde through the eyes of the guest and identify ways to make the experience better.

Merchandising & Product

Joy & Wylde is highly curated, and the way products are presented is an important part of the experience.

You'll oversee:

• Visual merchandising throughout the boutique.
• Product presentation and display standards.
• Inventory levels and product replenishment.
• Receiving, pricing and stocking merchandise.
• Working with ownership on assortment, pricing and purchasing decisions.
• Keeping displays fresh, interesting and visually compelling.

You should have a strong aesthetic sensibility and enjoy creating spaces that invite discovery.

Café & Hospitality Operations

You'll oversee the daily operation of our café and beverage service, including:

• Coffee and specialty beverages.
• Café food and light dining.
• Wine, beer and cocktails.
• Food presentation and service standards.
• Café inventory and replenishment.
• Cleanliness and organization.
• Opening and closing procedures.
• Compliance with applicable food-service and alcohol-service requirements.

You don't necessarily need to be a chef or professional barista, but you should understand hospitality operations and be comfortable managing a food-and-beverage environment.

Team Leadership

Great hospitality depends on a great team. You'll be responsible for building and developing that team, including:

• Recruiting and helping select exceptional employees.
• Onboarding and training new team members.
• Establishing clear expectations for hospitality, sales and performance.
• Coaching employees and helping them develop their individual strengths.
• Providing regular feedback and addressing performance issues when necessary.
• Creating schedules appropriate to seasonal traffic and business needs.
• Building a positive, accountable workplace where talented people want to stay.
• Leading by example and stepping into any part of the operation when needed.

We want someone who enjoys developing people and understands that effective management means helping employees perform to their potential.

Sales & Business Performance

Hospitality comes first, but this is ultimately a commercial leadership position.

You'll be accountable for helping Joy & Wylde achieve its financial goals across:

• Boutique sales
• Café and beverage sales
• Special events
• Support for gallery sales in collaboration with our art sales team

Responsibilities include monitoring sales performance, understanding what's driving results, identifying opportunities, establishing goals with ownership and helping the team achieve them.

You'll encourage thoughtful, consultative selling rather than aggressive sales tactics. Our philosophy is simple: help people have a wonderful experience, understand what interests them, and make it easy for them to buy.

We're interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following:

• Boutique or specialty retail management
• Luxury retail
• Hospitality management
• Lifestyle or design-oriented businesses

More important than any particular background is the combination of hospitality, leadership, aesthetic judgment and commercial instinct.

You should be someone who:
