Electrical Maintenance Technician – Job Description We are seeking a skilled and dependable Electrical Maintenance Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and industrial equipment in a manufacturing environment. This role is critical to maintaining equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting safe and efficient plant operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with industrial electrical systems, motors, controls, PLCs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting production equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform preventative and corrective electrical maintenance on plant equipment and machinery. Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, motors, drives, relays, sensors, control circuits, and automation equipment. Analyze and diagnose electrical malfunctions quickly to minimize production downtime. Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, conduit, panels, fixtures, and components in compliance with applicable codes. Perform panel wiring, panel construction, and equipment installation. Bend and run conduit as required for equipment and facility projects. Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical diagrams, blueprints, specifications, and wiring drawings. Inspect transformers, circuit breakers, and other electrical components for proper operation and safety. Use testing and diagnostic equipment including voltmeters, ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical testing devices. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits to ensure system compatibility and safety. Assist with PLC troubleshooting and automated system maintenance. Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete repairs in a timely manner. Conduct inspections to identify hazards, defects, wear, and potential failures; recommend corrective actions and improvements. Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and inventory documentation. Collaborate with operations and manufacturing teams to improve equipment reliability and production performance. Support equipment installations, upgrades, and facility improvement projects. Follow all OSHA, NEC, NFPA, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and company safety procedures and standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred. Journeyman electrician license or equivalent industrial electrical experience preferred. Minimum 2 years of electrical maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred. Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, troubleshooting methods, and controls. Experience with PLCs, VFDs, motors, conveyors, and automated equipment preferred. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals. Knowledge of NEC, OSHA regulations, and industrial safety procedures. Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and electrical diagnostic equipment. Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Preferred Skills PLC programming and troubleshooting experience. Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems). Basic mechanical maintenance abilities. Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics. Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in industrial environments. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Comfortable working around noise, heat, moving machinery, and varying environmental conditions. Ability to work overtime, weekends, or on-call schedules as needed.
