Location: Rockville, MD | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, M-F 8am - 4:30pm | Compensation: Not specified Overview A healthcare services organization is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist for a contract engagement with a projected duration of 3 months and potential for permanent placement. This role is essential to ensuring accurate specimen collection, handling, and patient care support within a laboratory or clinical setting. What you'll do Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities Collect and store specimens according to established procedures Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow all physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy Package specimens for transport Store specimens at required temperatures, place samples in appropriate containers/tubes, label accurately, and follow protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Required qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED Minimum of 2 years of experience Compensation and benefits Benefits are available Why this role This contract position in Rockville, MD has a projected duration of 3 months with the potential to transition into a permanent role, and benefits are available during the engagement. #J-18808-Ljbffr Software Placement Group
