Assistant Professor of Psychology

Department Dept of Psychology, Social Work, and Counseling Job Summary/Basic Function Shepherd University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology position, with an open area of specialization, beginning Fall 2027. The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree in Psychology and a strong background in Psychological Science and a commitment to undergraduate education. Candidates should be able to teach the introductory course, Statistics, Research Methods, and courses in their area of specialization. The typical course load is four classes per semester. The Psychology program at Shepherd is a vibrant major with approximately 125 students and a strong record of preparing graduates for advanced study and professional careers. Minimum Qualifications The successful candidate must have completed a doctoral degree in Psychology or be ABD by the time of employment and demonstrate experience teaching at the college level. Preferred Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess the ability to teach Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, Research Methods, and the undergraduate capstone. They will have experience engaging undergraduate students in the classroom and involving them in research activities.
