Position Summary

The Full-Time Youth Minister exists to support the mission of Bedico Baptist Church by leading and discipling students in grades 6 through 12 through biblical teaching, fellowship, outreach, mentorship, and spiritual growth in alignment with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

This position is responsible for cultivating a Christ-centered youth ministry environment that encourages students to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, integrate into the life of the local church, develop biblical foundations, build meaningful Christian community, and actively live out their faith.

The Youth Minister is expected to model Christian character, spiritual maturity, integrity, servant leadership, and professionalism in all ministry responsibilities and relationships.

Primary Responsibilities

Teaching & Discipleship

•     Lead weekly youth gatherings, Bible studies, discipleship opportunities, and ministry activities for students in grades 6 through 12

•     Prepare and deliver biblically sound, age-appropriate teaching

•     Encourage spiritual growth through prayer, worship, biblical teaching, and church involvement

•     Build relationships with students through mentorship, discipleship, encouragement, and biblical guidance

•     Support students through life transitions, spiritual challenges, and personal growth opportunities

Youth Ministry Leadership & Engagement

•     Foster a welcoming, Christ-centered youth ministry environment

•     Encourage participation in worship services, camps, retreats, outreach events, service projects, and ministry opportunities

•     Promote student leadership, accountability, fellowship, evangelism, and discipleship

•     Coordinate outreach opportunities within the church, schools, and local community

•     Work alongside volunteers, ministry leaders, and local ministry partners when appropriate

Volunteer & Parent Communication

•     Recruit, mentor, schedule, and support youth ministry volunteers

•     Maintain healthy communication and relationships with students, parents, volunteers, and church leadership

•     Communicate regularly regarding ministry events, schedules, discipleship opportunities, and student needs

Ministry Coordination & Administration

•     Plan and organize ministry calendars, camps, retreats, outreach opportunities, fellowship gatherings, and ministry events

•     Maintain ministry communication, attendance tracking, curriculum planning, and event coordination

•     Steward ministry resources responsibly and operate within ministry budget expectations

•     Assist with fundraising efforts supporting student participation and outreach opportunities

•     Follow all church policies regarding safety, conduct, transportation, and child protection

Reporting Structure

The Full-Time Youth Minister reports directly to the Senior Pastor and works cooperatively with church staff, volunteers, ministry leaders, and other ministry teams.

Accountability will be maintained through regular communication, ministry planning meetings, periodic evaluations, adherence to church policies, and alignment with the mission and doctrinal beliefs of Bedico Baptist Church and the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

Required Qualifications

•     Profess a personal relationship with Jesus Christ

•     Demonstrate spiritual maturity and a Christ-centered lifestyle

•     Be in agreement with the doctrine, mission, and values of Bedico Baptist Church and the Baptist Faith and Message 2000

•     Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and leadership skills

•     Ability to teach, disciple, mentor, and lead students effectively

•     High school diploma or equivalent

•     Valid driver’s license

•     Ability to successfully pass a background check

•     Demonstrate biblical leadership qualities consistent with 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9

Preferred Qualifications

•     Seminary trained preferred

•     Bachelor’s degree preferred

•     Married preferred

•     Three to four years of experience leading a youth group preferred

•     Prior ministry experience within a Southern Baptist or evangelical church environment preferred

•     Experience leading small groups, discipleship ministries, outreach efforts, retreats, camps, or volunteer leadership preferred

Safety & Compliance Requirements

•     Successful completion of background screening

•     Compliance with all Bedico Baptist Church personnel policies and ministry procedures

•     Completion of ministry safety training and child protection requirements

•     Adherence to all student safety, supervision, and transportation policies established by the church

Schedule & Time Expectations

This is a full-time ministerial position with hours varying based on ministry needs, outreach opportunities, retreats, camps, conferences, and church functions.

Schedules will include evenings, weekends, worship services, Bible studies, ministry events, outreach opportunities, retreats, and seasonal church activities.

Weekly Ministry Expectations Include

•     Sunday morning worship services and youth ministry involvement

•     Sunday evening youth ministry activities

•     Wednesday evening youth gatherings and small groups

•     Weekly preparation and discipleship planning

•     Student and parent communication

•     Volunteer development and ministry coordination

•     Office hours and ministry planning meetings

•     Church-wide ministry events and outreach opportunities

Statement of Faith & Ministry Conduct

Because Bedico Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist church and religious nonprofit organization, all ministerial staff members are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the church’s statement of faith, biblical standards of conduct, and ministry philosophy.

Ministerial staff are expected to demonstrate integrity, humility, servant leadership, and spiritual maturity in all ministry-related activities and relationships.

Physical Requirements

•     Ability to participate in ministry events, retreats, camps, outreach activities, and church gatherings

•     Ability to communicate effectively in individual and group settings

•     Ability to travel locally and overnight for ministry-related activities when necessary

•     Ability to actively supervise and engage students during ministry activities and events
