Part-Time Custodian

The Town of Ipswich seeks candidates for union position of Part-Time Custodian (19 hours per week, no benefits) for the Town Facilities Department.


The schedule is as follows:

Monday-Thursday 7:00PM - 11:00PM

Friday from 8:00PM - 11:00PM

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under supervision of the Facilities Manager, or their designee, performs task to maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of Town facilities; assists with set-up and break-down of activities at Town facilities and other various assignments to support the Facilities Department.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Cleans restrooms and replenishes restroom products as needed.
• Assists with the setup of meeting rooms for scheduled events.
• Moves furniture, equipment and supplies as directed.
• Maintains cleanliness of facilities by washing walls, doorways, window frames, bathroom stalls, glass cases, and other areas as directed. Dusts window sills throughout facilities.
• Cleans of meeting rooms and public spaces after events, removes trash and recycling, returns room to proper condition.
• Performs minor carpentry, painting and repairs on equipment and buildings.
• Completes work-orders as assigned.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Performs work related to snow and ice operations, including but not limited to shoveling sidewalks and clearing/shoveling out Town vehicles

Qualifications
• High School Diploma and 1-year job-related experience in construction or any equivalent combination.• Working knowledge of basic methods, practices and work standards relating to the custodial care of buildings, fixtures and equipment preferred.• Working knowledge of fundamental maintenance procedures required.• Ability to operate and manipulate various equipment under all-weather conductions.• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions in assigned areas is essential; minor carpentry skills are used.• Requires mathematical development sufficient to be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units a measure.• Must be organized and able to complete tasks with minimal instruction and reminders.• Ability to understand and follow oral and written direction.• Ability to use and apply word processing, spreadsheets, email and other computer technology.
