Here, you will make an impact by:Lead or support new product commercialization activities, including process development, scale-up, validation, and manufacturing readinessServe as a technical resource for troubleshooting and resolving process issues related to process conditions and material constructionApply statistical and engineering methods to monitor, control, and improve process capability, reliability, and product consistencyIdentify and lead initiatives to improve cost, quality, service, throughput, and yield within assigned areasSupport and implement improvements related to process safety, environmental performance, and equipment reliabilityEvaluate capital planning needs and support equipment upgrades, modifications, and technology investmentsPartner with cross-functional teams to plan and execute process trials, experiments, and data-driven improvement projectsDocument technical findings, communicate recommendations clearly, and contribute to effective team decision-makingYour Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering or science discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institutionOne (1) year of combined experience in manufacturing and/or product/process development in a private, public, government or military environment Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Master’s degree in engineering or science from an accredited institutionThree (3) years of combined experience in manufacturing and/or product/process development in a private, public, government or military environmentTechnical experience in polymer processing, extrusion, compounding, web handling, coating, lamination, adhesives, or roll-to-roll manufacturingExperience with continuous improvement, process scale-up, equipment qualification, and manufacturing optimizationWorking knowledge of statistical process control, process capability analysis, design of experiments, and root cause problem solvingStrong interpersonal, leadership, teamwork, and written/oral communication skillsDemonstrated ability to work effectively across technical and operations teams in a fast-paced environmentWork location: Maplewood, MNTravel: May include up to 10% domesticRelocation Assistance: May be authorizedMust be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).Supporting Your Well-being3M offers many programs to help you live your best life – both physically and financially. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
