Event Supervisor

Facilities Maintenance SupervisorSupervises, prioritizes, assigns and reviews the work of staff assigned to maintain public venues within the City of Santa Monica. Responsibilities include supervising and coordinating facilities maintenance programs, overseeing daily site operations, supervising staff, and overseeing venues for public events and private rentals.*Title change pending City Council approvalRepresentative DutiesSupervises, plans, and coordinates facility (work orders, buildings and systems, signage, etc.) and equipment (furniture, technology, etc.) maintenance including anticipating and/or identifying facility failures; inputs work orders; coordinates and schedules vendor site visits and maintenance.Coordinates cross departmental team meetings to proactively maintain and plan work to keep site as a premier public facility.Works with staff to maximize efficiency in scheduling, operations and coordination with onsite personnel, vendors and clients.Coordinates with the division manager to support operations and staffing to provide efficient, effective operations, establishing a welcoming environment and the highest level of customer service.Works collaboratively with other city departments and contractors to provide a seamless delivery of programs and services.Acts as point of contact for operations and production of onsite events including preparation, staffing, set-up, day of event operations, and closing out.Selects, trains, schedules and supervises assigned staff as well as consultants and volunteers.Responds to inquiries, researches and resolves complaints. Provides assistance to guests and to the general public.Acts in the place of the division manager when needed.Assists in the preparation and monitoring of program budgets. Experience must have included overseeing facilities maintenance functions of an event venue or similar facility. At least two years of the recent, paid experience must have included leading and coordinating the work of others OR one year of leading and coordinating the work of others and successful completion of the City of Santa Monica's Pre-Supervisory Academy at the time of application.Option BEducation: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.Experience: Four years of recent, paid work experience planning and overseeing events. Experience must have included overseeing facilities maintenance functions of an event venue or similar facility. At least two years of the recent, paid experience must have included leading and coordinating the work of others OR one year of leading and coordinating the work of others and successful completion of the City of Santa Monica's Pre-Supervisory Academy at the time of application.Option CEducation: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree.Experience: Six years of recent, paid work experience planning and overseeing events. Experience must have included overseeing facilities maintenance functions of an event venue or similar facility. At least two years of the recent, paid experience must have included leading and coordinating the work of others OR one year of leading and coordinating the work of others and successful completion of the City of Santa Monica's Pre-Supervisory Academy at the time of application.Option DEducation: Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency.Experience: Eight years of recent, paid work experience planning and overseeing events. Experience must have included overseeing facilities maintenance functions of an event venue or similar facility. At least two years of the recent, paid experience must have included leading and coordinating the work of others OR one year of leading and coordinating the work of others and successful completion of the City of Santa Monica's Pre-Supervisory Academy at the time of application.Licenses and Certificates: Ability to obtain and maintain a valid class C driver license or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.Supplemental InformationHow to Apply: Applicants must submit a completed on-line City Application along with any required supplemental application materials with the Human Resources Department by the filing deadline.
