Characteristics of Work

This is first-level professional therapeutic work involving the planning, coordination, and delivery of recreation-based or music-based treatment programs for individuals with disabilities, injuries, or illnesses. The incumbent assesses patient needs, assists with treatment planning, facilitates therapeutic activities, maintains therapy equipment, prepares documentation, and coordinates services with other programs and treatment staff. Work requires professional judgment, initiative, and the ability to support therapeutic goals through structured activities and treatment services.

Examples of work include planning and facilitating recreation-based or music-based therapeutic activities; assessing patient needs, interests, abilities, and treatment goals; assisting with the development and implementation of treatment plans; coordinating therapeutic services with other programs and clinical staff; documenting patient participation, progress, and response to treatment; using, cleaning, and maintaining therapy equipment and supplies; preparing reports, records, and related documentation; encouraging patient participation in structured therapeutic activities; monitoring patient safety during therapy sessions; providing guidance or work direction to lower-level staff involved in therapeutic programs; and performing related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 0-2 years of experience.
