Job Description Summary The Medical Records Clerk performs the clerical functions associated with clinical records utilization. They work closely with the clinicians on completion of the medical record by monitoring/reviewing the chart for accuracy & compliance per program rules and regulations. The Medical Records Clerk demonstrates a warm and welcoming empathic, hopeful attitude, conveying a philosophy of dual recovery. A Medical Records Clerk provides services to individuals impacted by a variety of behavioral health issues, recognizing that the individuals we serve often have experienced trauma that affects their development and adjustment. The Medical Records Clerk performs the clerical functions associated with clinical records utilization. Work Experiences Must be able to effectively, courteously, and professionally deal with the public both verbally and in writing. Working knowledge of computer applications such as Excel and Word Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent Responsibilities Scanning various medical and financial information into the EMR. Audit charts for deficiencies. Appropriate documentation of routing paper medical records. Follow appropriate procedure for closing episodes of care. Follow HIPAA standards in securing PHI. Assist with the orderly retrieval and review of patient charts for internal/external auditing.
