Cardiac Device Registered Nurse (RN)

This position is for a Cardiac Device Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for managing the care of patients with cardiac device needs in an outpatient clinic setting. The role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of care for patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Device management and post-operative wound checks.
• Remote monitoring of cardiac devices.
• Conducting device consults and managing patient visits.
• Collaborating with electrophysiologists and other healthcare professionals.

Working Environment

The clinic operates Monday through Friday, with staggered shifts available. Permanent staff members will be available for ongoing support throughout each shift.

Clinical Management

Expectations include managing planned clinic visits as well as the dynamic workload of peri-operative management. The role also requires adaptability to accommodate remote monitoring tasks and consults that may arise during the day.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• BLS Certification required.
• Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) certification is mandatory.
• Prefer Certified Electrophysiology Specialist (CEPS) certification.

Patient Population

Care is provided for adult and geriatric patients, addressing various cardiac conditions and device management needs.

Device Types

Familiarity with devices from leading vendors such as Boston Scientific, Medtronic, Abbott, and Biotronik is beneficial.

Orientation

Orientation will consist of 2 to 5 days of general training, including familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Epic and Vector for device management, followed by 1 to 5 days of preceptorship.

Additional Information

This role may involve travel between multiple outpatient locations within the region, specifically Tacoma, WA, and Gig Harbor, WA. A collaborative atmosphere exists, with many device representatives available to provide support and mentorship for staff members.
