Licensed Practical Nurse

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides quality nursing care to patients within a Long Term Care (LTC) facility, functioning within their scope of practice. The LPN collaborates with the healthcare team to respect patient rights and dignity while delivering care. Duties vary according to the assigned LTC area and include clinical assessments, medication administration, and patient monitoring. New graduates are accepted, though experience in hospital or LTC settings is preferred. The role requires licensure in Alaska and current CPR/BLS certification. Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to patients in the Long Term Care setting respecting patient rights and dignity.
• Perform clinical assessments and administer medications as prescribed.
• Monitor patient conditions and report changes to the healthcare team.
• Utilize medical equipment such as Dynamapp, thermometers, Datascope, and pulse oximetry devices.
• Participate in collaborative communication with physicians, medical staff, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Maintain accurate documentation and assist with compliance to regulatory standards.
• Participate in special committees and represent the nursing department professionally.
• Maintain competencies and complete required certifications including IV certification.

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing in the State of Alaska.
• Current CPR certification (BCLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Graduate of an approved LPN/LVN school.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and healthcare team members.
• Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and interpretation of graphs.
• Ability to read, interpret, and write reports, professional correspondence, and technical instructions.

• One year of experience in hospital or long-term care settings preferred but not required.
• IV certification course completion.
• Experience working within multicultural environments.

• Must maintain all required competencies and certifications for the position.
• Ability to work effectively in variable and potentially fast-paced LTC environments.
• May participate in special committees and represent the nursing department professionally.

• Work schedule and shifts vary depending on LTC facility needs and assignments.
• Flexibility to work various shifts as required by the facility.
