Description

American Traveler is hiring an Oncology Chemo Certified RN with a BSN and chemotherapy certification for a day-shift infusion center position in an outpatient cancer care setting.

Details

• Outpatient oncology infusion center setting
• Cares for patients with all oncological and hematological diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, Monday through Friday (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
• No weekend requirement
• No on-call requirement
• No floating required, though subject to change based on facility needs
• Uses Epic charting system
• Dark blue scrubs provided

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• BSN required
• 1-2 years of oncology/chemo nursing experience required, 1-3 years preferred
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
• CPHON, CPON, and OCN certifications preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• At least one previous travel assignment required
• Skilled in IV therapy, port access and management, and central line care
• Experience administering chemotherapy via multiple routes (IV push, continuous infusion, oral)
• Experience managing cytotoxic spills and body fluid handling post-chemotherapy
• Knowledge of biotherapy and immunotherapy administration and side effect management
• Experience recognizing and managing chemotherapy-related symptoms and side effects
• Experience caring for patients with a wide range of cancer diagnoses

Additional Information

• Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and immunotherapy treatments to oncology patients
• Manage ports, central lines, and PICC lines for infusion therapy
• Monitor and manage symptoms related to chemotherapy treatment
• Provide phlebotomy and telephone triage support as needed
• Manage pain and PCA pumps for patients as required
• Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values
• First-time travelers accepted, provided experience requirements are met
