Medical Laboratory Technician

Archbold Mitchell Hospital offers a sign on bonus. The Medical Laboratory Technician demonstrates adequate knowledge of the hospital, laboratory and referral facilities computer systems. Proficiency in patient specimen collection and test order functions is required. Correct venipuncture/capillary/urine/drug screen collection techniques are necessary. All specimens must be collected efficiently and timely. Instrument maintenance and quality control testing and documentation are required. Compliance with all applicable laboratory safety policies and procedures is mandatory. The ability to function in all areas of the laboratory including Blood Bank, Chem., Hemo, Coag, Urinalysis, Micro, Immuno is required. Non-technical, phlebotomy and clerical duties as needed are also required.

Experience/Qualifications include successful completion of an Associate's Degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Program. MLT certification by ASCP, AMT, AAB or other nationally recognized certification agency is required. New graduates must pass one of the national certification exams within 18 months of hire. Competency assessment and continuing education in laboratory sciences are required throughout employment. Maintenance of certification is required during employment with Archbold Medical Center.
