PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER

Longwood Gardens is hiring part-time Public Safety Officers to support our Security & Public Safety team. This role involves ensuring the safety and security of visitors, guests, and staff while maintaining a welcoming environment throughout the Gardens. Responsibilities include: Patrolling the grounds by various means including walking, bicycling, utilizing golf carts, etc. Responding to and assisting with all emergencies Investigating and documenting incidents thoroughly and properly Interacting with guests in a positive and friendly manner by providing information and direction while following safety and security policies Assisting with the opening and/or closing of daily operations and traffic control This part-time role requires availability throughout the year, averaging 28 hours per week. The schedule varies and may require working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The ideal candidate will possess: A valid driver's license is required First aid, CPR, AED experience(s) preferred but not required Law enforcement, military, or related security experience preferred Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions with long periods of walking and standing Strong writing skills to properly complete and document incident reports / investigations Ability to operate Longwood-owned vehicles Exceptional customer service, communication, conflict resolution, and hospitality skills Ability to lift 50 pounds Longwood Gardens is committed to nurturing a diverse and inclusive environment that celebrates the complexities and differences of all living things.
