Job Title: Medical Assistant Job Description

As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring that the clinic operates smoothly and efficiently. Arrive 30 minutes prior to provider schedules to prepare and stock rooms, review schedules, set up surgical trays, and assist with patient flow. You will support doctors by scribing during patient visits, preparing preliminary notes, and handling emails and phone calls. Additionally, you will be expected to provide patient education, remove sutures, and communicate pathology results.

Responsibilities

• Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are fully stocked.
• Review daily schedules and set up surgical trays.
• Assist doctors by scribing patient visits and creating preliminary notes.
• Interview patients and document chief complaints and medical history.
• Provide instructions to patients and follow up with pathology results.
• Answer emails and phone calls promptly.
• Assist with patient flow by rooming patients and maintaining appointment schedules.
• Support the clinic by taking out sutures and moving efficiently between patients.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 6 months experience in medical assisting.
• Experience in patient care and taking patient vitals.
• Scribing experience is required.
• Proficiency in charting and using Microsoft Office.
• Ability to educate patients and manage appointment scheduling.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in dermatology is a significant advantage.
• Customer service skills are crucial.
• Certification in medical assisting is preferred but not required.

Work Environment

The work environment is a large, welcoming office that occupies the entire second floor of the building. The office culture is flexible and understanding, with ongoing renovations to improve the workspace. You will be part of a team of 16 medical assistants. The close-knit team works Monday through Friday, with typical hours from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. Occasionally, you may need to start at 6:45 am to support a physician who begins at 7 am.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lancaster, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
