Secondary Area 2 School_Paraprofessional, Title I (Lithonia MS) 2026-2027 JobID: 22461 Posted on 6/23/2026 Location: Lithonia Middle School Overview The DeKalb County School District is seeking a Title I Paraprofessional. The primary responsibility is to implement, deliver, and promote high academic expectations to all students. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers and staff, support classroom instruction, and assist with student care and behavior management. Position Details Term: One (1) year, funded through Title I funds. The position will end on or before June 30, 2027. Salary Grade: Unified 108. Responsibilities Assist students with physical and personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, lifting, and mobility, as outlined in the student's IEP and district policy. Provide daily health‑related care, such as hygiene and non‑medical assistance, following IEP requirements and state guidelines. Assist with health care procedures, including hygiene and medication administration, as needed. Give small‑group and/or individualized instruction in accordance with lesson plans. Monitor students before and after school and during non‑instructional periods. Support classroom management activities to promote appropriate behavior. Assist with student assessments and record‑keeping tasks. Help develop and organize instructional materials for student use. Provide direct instructional support under the supervision of a certified special education teacher. Reinforce academic content in whole group, small group, and one‑on‑one settings. Implement accommodations and modifications outlined in students' IEPs. Assist with progress monitoring and data collection. Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) with fidelity. Maintain a safe and structured learning environment. Support students' self‑regulation, social skills, and behavior strategies. Participate in professional learning and required training. Maintain confidentiality of student records in compliance with FERPA and district policies. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED and pass the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment. Or an associate degree or higher from a Georgia Professional Standards Commission‑approved accredited institution. Or a minimum of sixty semester hours or ninety quarter hours of college coursework completed with a GPA of 2.0 or higher from a Georgia PSC‑approved institution. Valid Professional Standards Commission‑approved paraprofessional certificate.
