Job Type Classified – Judicial JMR Department D110 Adult Probation About the Position The Clinician Associate, under the supervision of an independently licensed Clinician, provides clinical assessment services in unique specialty areas for clients with substance use or mental health issues who are involved in the legal system. Position Qualifications We recognize your time is valuable, so please apply if you meet the following required qualifications: Education: · Master’s degree in counseling, substance abuse counseling, social work, psychology, or a closely related field Other Requirements: · Licensure by the Arizona State Board of Behavioral Health Examiners as a Licensed Associate Addiction Counselor (LAAC), Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Independent Addiction Counselor (LIAC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). · A valid Arizona Driver License. Our Preferred Candidate has: · Bilingual in English/Spanish Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge of: · Principles, practices and procedures used in professional social work services · Clinical documentation and oversight · ACA best practice standards · AZBBHE rules and statues · AHCCCS funded treatment programs · Community resources Skill in: · Computers and related software · Communicating effectively in both oral and written forms · Motivational Interviewing Ability to: · Establish and maintain working relationships with individuals and community organizations · Identify and utilize community resources · Present ideas clearly and effectively both orally and in writing · Work flexible hours Essential Job Tasks (This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.) Under the supervision of an independently licensed Clinician: · Conducts initial and ongoing assessment of need for substance use treatment and/or other behavioral health needs. · Assessments may be conducted in the office, at the jail or at probation offices · Conducts professional level group and one on one counseling to resolve substance abuse and personal issues, assist family members, and facilitate overall involvement in treatment. · Conducts crisis intervention assessments in prompt manner. · Documents clinical notes in APETS/Techcare providing justification for referral level · If participant is not appropriate for program, ensure proper follow up for clinical needs is relayed to client and documented in APETS · Completes re-assessments after a participant has completed a level of treatment, been absent from treatment, or re-enters the program following a probation violation or jail term · Staffs cases with treatment providers to ensure appropriate coordination of care · Refers participants to ancillary services as needed · Assists with AHCCCS applications as needed · Attends clinical supervision and unit meetings as required · Maintains training standards set forth by the Board of Behavioral Health · Enters each new participant into the Reconnect system, documenting all demographic and historical information related to treatment · Updates treatment screens for participants receiving treatment at an outside agency (treatment completed, treatment in each phase, etc) · Produces informative, concise notes, consistently documenting intake, referral information and obstacles to program participation. · Provides verbal and written communications to probation officers regarding the assessment and/or ongoing progress of probationers in treatment. · Assists in providing or seeking continuing training for the treatment court team and will ensure all new team members receive a treatment court orientation before participating in their first staffing. · Maintains accurate and timely records and documentation for the program. · Completes exit interviews prior to program participants' graduation · Monitors service contracts · Prepares grant requests and associated reports · Makes presentations to judicial leadership, judges and attorneys · Responds to inquiries and requests for information about the program · Updates the participant handbook as needed · Attend staffing and court hearings to advocate for the use of best practices standards related to phase promotions, sanctions and incentives, and clinical guidelines. · Report quarterly and yearly statistics to AOC · Attend AOC quarterly coordinator meetings Working conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to communicate clearly, perceive details of objects that are close by, and maintain various physical positions for extended periods, such as sitting, standing, or walking. The job may involve using hands for tasks such as typing, handling objects, or operating tools, as well as reaching with hands and arms. Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances. The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system's requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan.
