Assistant Estimator

The Assistant Estimator Candidate must have basic knowledge of plumbing and NFPA codes, HVAC knowledge is a plus. Have strong communication and organizational skills. Responsibilities Assists estimator in analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for various projects by performing the following duties. Assists in reviewing data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists of equipment, fixtures and subcontractors. Uses Quickpen for onscreen takeoff. Assist in conducting special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions as required. Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates. Meets and communicates with project team on how the estimate was devised and provides assistance in transforming the estimate into a project control budget. Assist in organizing and managing a cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized. Assist in analyzing completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies. Helps identify cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts. Attends job site walkthroughs and pre-bid meetings. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
