Congressional Affairs and Communications Assistant

The U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission is hiring a Congressional Affairs and Communications Assistant . Under the direction of the Director of Congressional Affairs and Communications, the position offers a unique opportunity to shape the Commission’s engagement with Congress, external stakeholders, and the public through legislative affairs, strategic communications, and outreach efforts. Major duties and responsibilities include: Congressional engagement: Build relationships with Members of Congress and staff, prepare Commission staff to brief offices on the Commission's work, and track relevant hearings, markups, and legislative activity. Hearing and research support: Help plan and execute Commission hearings and support research by analyzing legislation and identifying engagement opportunities. Policy analysis: Research the policy landscape to refine and sharpen Commission recommendations, and draft briefing materials and talking points. Strategic communications: Develop outreach initiatives (podcasts, videos, panels, universities) to amplify the Commission's visibility and policy impact. Digital and media presence: Manage digital content across social media, website, and newsletters, monitor media coverage, and support press and interview coordination.
